The
city of St Louis is located in the north of Senegal to the Mauritanian
border. It is the symbol of elegance and fashion where one of
the traditions was "Tacoussanou Ndar", that consisted
for women to dress in order to go for a walk in the afternoon.
Around 5.00 pm, we could meet there Signare women, Wolof, Poulhar,
walking with elegance on the river banks
No woman in the
world could walk as a St Louisianan Lady
Mame Fagueye Bâ, based in Dakar, needs to be resourced from
time to time in her city. She incarnates the elegance of the old
previous capital of Senegal and AOF.
Between modernity and traditions, her works are really original
and remarkable, realised with a mix of materials where the blow
of the life cross our body with the softness of a raw veil.
Fagueye draws her models and accessories, also for movies. That
is called just talent.
Since the seamstress and design workshop opening, in Sor in1992,
her successes are growing up. Fagueye provides more and more parades,
and participates each year to the Jazz Festival of St Louis.
She is one of the SIMOD leader; she participated to the first
Fouta edition, parades all around Europe.

Fagueye
creates movies' wardrobes and is chief wardrobes mistress for
"tableau ferraille" of Moussa Sene Absa; for "Karmen"
of Jo Ramaka Gei; for "le prix du pardon " of Mansour
Sora Wade, "un amour d'enfant" of Bene Diogaye Beye.
She participated to the decoration for "caprice d'un fleuve"
of Bernard Giraudeau ; created wardrobes for several documentaries,
and short cuts movies. She wined several awards, specially the
MNET 98 award for the best wardrobe movies in South Africa for
"Tableau Ferraille" of Moussa Sene Absa.
Fagueye was consecrated as best designer in West Africa for the
ECOFEST Festival in Nigeria, in 2002, organised by ECOWAS.
Fagueye is thirsty by work, by love of her culture and foreign
culture too.
Her generosity makes her to exchange and promote Arts and African
contemporary design.
Since November 2001, she has targeted a cultural site where more
of 50 artists take place.
It is just ESPACE FAGUEYE.
Fagueye works, is creating for herself, her family, her city of
St Louis, and her country, Senegal.
